Creating a Place I can Love
Front yard fairly barren as old trees lost in storms. Only house with no larger trees in front. Foundation plants are overgrown and likely need removing - Some are hollies plus unknown evergreens that draw major bee traffic in early spring, Nandinas squeezed in and lots of lirope framing the beds. Full sun entire day/south/southwest exposure. Entry walkway is concrete/cracked and not wide enough for the entry.. Likely remove and use pavers. City has a 14 foot right of way in front of house & hopefully a sidewalk will happen in that area. City sewer & other utilities except for water run along the left side of the house (facing the house) and water runs dead center of the right side. Concern for sewer laterals will affect what goes in, particularly on the left (again, facing the house).
House probably classified as a colonial revival /sides are more interesting than the front. I wonder if it wasn't a cape cod at one time, with the shed dormers added in the front and back at a later date. Facing the house, the right side has an enclosed sun room that may have been open in the past.
Front yard landscaping goal is to have a beautiful , inviting feel/not a formal atypical colonial feel. Would love a real porch but would probably have to do that off the sunroom side with decking and pergola/arbor/trellis.
Shutters could change color/be removed-changed to batten/board /front door could be painted. Vinyl siding unfortunately over original clapboard and likely have to stay. Windows a mix of original , later wood and vinyl in front sun room.
Ideas, input , anything welcome !
hmmm, not sure this doesn't take Prim too far............ the outside framing of the cabinets doesn't fit ; nor does the gray - too whatever - doesn't fit the prim - windows wrong for th elook - hmm,, I like the red knobs on the oven - but this is a fail and likely very expensive - BUT and that is a big BUTT, it's not mine so who in the heck am I to critique..................??????
Roof line very cool here. Enclosed sun room - triple Jalousie windows here. Double Jalousies on back. Camelias way overgrown/palm tree an enigma-planned to take it down but it does have it's uniqueness..... probably cannot save the Camelias if removed but have thought of putting an arbor between the two roof extensions and decking etc; replace Jalousie windows with triple French doors. All painted white to conform to house style.
November - Yard looking pretty burnt out. 2017 note - darn - should have cut down the palmetto tree before it got taller than the house. Are there no monkeys in the world to climb up this tree and trim off the dead foliage??? Maybe a panda??? Maybe a koala bear? What eats Palmetto foliage because I can't find a single person who will shimmy up that tree and clean it up . Will have to drop it on my neighbor's house.
kitchen - oh, nice - i like - i figure out how to do
