I like the flexibility these give to let light in and block it all out like the one on the right. A modern take on a Venetian blind without the dusting since the movable portion is between two sheer sheets of fabric.

Texture can be good but too much collects dust.

I believe these either drop down or rise up but I like the wide “panels”

Again, this gives you the opportunity to add color to the panels. But, please no puddling…dirty and very 1990’s

Solar shades with drapes over - NO PUDDLING of drapes, please!

Another color-blocking idea. I could also see texture, rather than color to keep it calmer.

this is a drop from top solution and I like the wide panels they’ve used here. The only thing to worry about is keeping the bottoms clean.

This is a great heavy drape with pattern on the leading edge over shears. It give you the option of opening wide for maximum light and closing either the sheer or the heavy drape.

I love this installation with a track in your ceiling. Keeps it so clean and you have the space to do it.

Another option is to add texture. Be careful, sometimes too much texture is just a lint trap. But The Shade Store has lots of options and they open from top down or bottom up or both. Then your decorative Drapes can be just decorative and don’t have to close but remain a full side panel.

I like this but would recommend softer color variation for stripes. Maybe a cream and a cream/tan ticking stripe instead of the black. Just a little texture rather than the color blocking.

Here’s an example of a bottom up treatment. The only thing I would worry about is the dust collection since they’ll begin down on the floor. Again, these could be bottom up, top down or both.

Gives the opportunity to have the heavier drape provide color or pattern.

Layering of drapes, very sheer under heavier linen
