Basement/laundry ideas for Jim
I like the idea of draftsman stools for the bar seating since backless stools will stow nicely under the bar surface. JK 10/13. Agreed, though I don't know that it matters since I think we planned the north seating area with sufficient room for stools with backs. If it's possible to get stools with backs people will be happier sitting there for longer periods of time. Better for game day! If you like this style this should be added to your furniture list.
I like the dark cabinets and rough wood wall panels with the polished concrete floor. I also like the idea of industrial style pendants over the bar-style seating as long as ceiling height will allow for high-mounted pendants (not sure this is possible with low ceiling). JK 10/13. This is a great look! It also prompts the question of not just what the interior design theme will be, but how timeless you want the basement to be. Trendy vs. Timeless....always a design challenge!
Would be nice to disguise the door into the south partially excavated storage room - with a moving bookcase perhaps? JK 10/13 I have not doubt that we can disguise that door reasonably well but bookshelf doors won't wear well, especially since the out of level concrete floor won't allow for a level tracking system to support the very heavy assembly.
Nice way to make the columns more stylish. "Tray" ceiling has visual interest while hiding pipes/hvac JK 10/13 This photo speaks directly to both the interior design theme and the budget. This is a very refined space that would live exceptionally well in a first floor public space. I love it. Is this the level of refinement you are anticipating in the basement? Family room? Entire basement? Help us understand!
