BK - I like the symmetry of the great room, mantle with textured wall and TV as the focal point on the north side, the hood/range as the focal point that draws the eye on the other side, these just don't offer that balance. The other point to make is that a hood that goes up above the cabinet line can really draw attention to the height and openness of the vaulted ceiling without drawing attention to the vaulted ceiling which we want to avoid, NB - Pro style hood with cabinets above
Sk- I HATE this kitchen. They are trying too hard to match details, the browns are terrible and it is country. My hood should be a feature, stands alone. Also no to bell shape. BK - the detailing here matches the cabinets, I kind of like this idea of copper with stainless detailing, either rivets or trim, also would explore the shape a bit, do we want a bell with a taper or I was thinking I would prefer the more dominant profile or a trapezoid with a shorter at the bottom, We can still stretch it maybe above the cabinet to soften it to a more feminine or Victorian profile, Maybe think turret.
Sk - Shape simple and clean.
