SYH: 800 Basement
SY: this particular variant is 5' square, and we want 3-4' square. But there is a 4' square configuration. SG: Yes. This is solid choice. SY: this is one of loads of possible configurations for the Surface table by Vincent Van Duysen for B&B Italia. Not in these finishes, but do you like the general effect? For basement tv area coffee table.
SG: Gorgeous. Love the leather trim. SY: this is gorgeous, good dimensions as is, though made to order so could be a bit longer too, and the leather at the back and inside can be customized - to the teal I was hoping! then it would be the perfect desk. They might even stain it black for me, which would be even better. (The truth is we could do it just as shown, with a teal chair.)
SY: perfect for the occasional side chair that can be pulled up to the tulip table in the west end of the basement. wegner pp52 chair - meets my light wood and dark seat requirement, and something interesting/beautiful/sculptural. unclear if it's a pair, but I am SURE we can find a place for the second.
SG: Like this ok, but Wegner is better. SY: Small Cabinet with Cane Doors by Harvey Probber, 42x18x26. white drawers inside on the left.
SG: Not terrible. I like the base but nothing special. I have had a good experience with Crate and Barrel though. Generally pretty good quality at a low price. \maybe... just crate and barrel
SG: Other caned options are better. SY: caned bar cabinet for basement - just feeling a bit leggy and pale in context.
SG: Don't love it. SY: serena & lily bar cart for basement
SG: Not bad but don't love the blueSY: maybe - gala by carpyen
SG: Simple, sort of elegant. Not bad at allSY: perhaps. China Floor Lamp.
SG: Maybe the white I am objecting to but like the China floor lamp better. SY: maybe. Ode from dWR
SG: This is fun. Don't love the black but maybe in a different finish SY: Amsterdam Floor Lamp from Nuevo Living
SY: basement side table
SG: Yes, this is a great table. SY: 35" saarinen tulip dining table for basement from dwr
SG: Not sure about this. Very boxy looking to me. SY: for seating area of basement - dwr raleigh arm chair - probably not in leather
SG: Like this one a little better than prior picture SY: maybe for sitting area of basement - seal chair from dwr
SG: I like this a lot SY: Do you know cladhome? I think they're in LA. Looks as if their sofas are customizable in all the right ways - including adding sleeper! This is the Barney.
SG: Ok. I am not wedded to the Como. I am also. not wedded to sectional sofa if you feel the space gets too tight. SY: This really feels like a max size once I was standing in the space again. Worried about the very slightly larger (125”) Como, though could do the Como with the chaise, and perhaps two chaises instead of the Eames. Working on getting good headspace above the eames under the stairs - to get it, we may need to shorten the sectional. SG: And we could soften it up with lots of pillows SY: agree. might be a good in between kelston & emmy SG: This nice. Very clean lines. SY: Franco could be a nice sectional alternative from MGBW. 120w x 120d
SY: I agree! Just need to get the sectional length right, because this is meant to tuck under the stairs, so needs the right headspace. SG: I think this might be the winner for the basement lounge chairs eames lounge - classic
SG: Yes, I agree SY: Using this as primary inspiration for basement palette/feel, ok? It is looking so cozy and inviting!
using this as primary inspiration for basement palette/feel, ok? simple, muted color, comfortable and inviting and cozily sophisticated
SY: original choice for sofabed (west) end of room. If basement feel is those previous two images, we need a couple of simple, neutral rugs - handwoven or handknotted wool. This is Garvura from RH.
SG: Like this. SY: possible alt for tv end of room. jaipur handknotted wool Salinas 10x14 - ooh I like this
SG: :Like this as well but depending on how green the green is in prior photo, might like that one better. SY: possible alt for tv end of room. RH Stilo. Nice dark contrast
SY: possible alt for tv end of room. restoration hardware Verso moroccan hand knotted for basement.
SG: This one is just ok. SY: possible alt for tv end of room. RH Andera (with perhaps with Garvura)
SY: original choice for tv (east) end of room. Hand woven from jonathan adler. For basement? I need two neutrals. SY followup: no sampling possible.
SG: It's hard to tell from picture what the tone is. It's fine, maybe a little boring SY: possible alt for tv end of room. jaipur enclave 10x14.
Lisbon hand knotted rug for basement from Jonathan Adler? $2500-$3200 in the sizes we need. Reminded me of the starburst you liked below from JAdler. I like this but am worried we can't get samples for any of the JA rugs.
SG: Too dark RH Axiom - perhaps too gray/dark
SG: This might work but could be too dark jaipur living 10x14 - close up shown next, perhaps too gray/dark
close up of next jaipur rug
basement rug option... need two neutral coordinating, perhaps too gray / would prefer creamier ground.
Room & Board Safi - too small at 9x12 max
SG: Oddly this looks like a door mat to me! RH Kalim
SG: I like how smooth this is. SY: I believe this is MArmoleum Liquid Clay flooring
cladhome's minette - with one cushion and a sleeper, would be great!
SY: right. It may not need to be if it is comfortable and the fabric choices are good. :) SG: It's fine but really nothing other than a sleeper sofa if you know what I mean. SY: very basic Oxford pop up sleeper sofa from Room & Board
SG: Like this one. And think it would have a lot of flexibility SY: Channel Tufted Landry Sleeper from MGBW. Worth sitting / lying on. (Also comes without tufting.)
SG: There is clearly a trip to Mitchell Gold in my future! SY: Keaton Queen Sleeper at MGBW - might be a bit too traditional looking with the Como or Kelston across the way, but not with the Franco or something tufted like the JAdler.
SY: Got it. Nix this one, then! SG: I think I would rather have the lounge chair and a regular way sofa if it came to that. It is always nice to have a single chair for reading. SY: This is the Haywood Left Arm Sectional, which is 137x73x36 (recording here because it oddly wasnt on the website) - which only works if you nix the lounge chair. So you'd want to really love the way it sits.
SG: I like this a lot. I think it is the wood framing that gives it a very clean line but still looks comfortable. SY: there is also this to try at MGBW - Clifton Left Sectional. Dimensions: 114" W x 79" D x 34" H. This might be pretty, tying to the wood in the Eames lounge and built in.
SG: Mitchell Gold, right. Good looking clean lines SY: If you like the feel of Franco, this variant is 117" x 78" - I'm glad to know there's a smaller version, if I need more wiggle room.
SY: me too, if only because of size. SG: Good eye! I don't love the legs up I could live with them. I am leaning forward the MG above though sY: you don't mind these legs on the Como?
SY: The Como from DWR. I could fit this corner sectional or the chaise version. (Pay no attention to fabric at this poiint.)
SY: oh, great, that's helpful. Did you try the kelston? SG: I like this too. We were just in DWR. The Como sectional is also very comfortable. SY: not this fabric, but a whole different look/feel for basement sectional. this is the kelston from dwr. thoughts?
SY: good to know! did you try any other sleepers you liked more? SG: Don't love this and we thought it was less comfortable. SY: Reid pulled out - looks easy and says it's very comfortable
sY: Reid Seeper Sofa from DWR - I like this one. (Lots of fabric options - more than Tuck, it seems. (I somewhat arbitrarily chose this one) Also, foot wider than Tuck -a Queen rather than a Full.)
SY: something a bit less precious for that basement table by the Eames. (Eames arm is 20.5"H, so this would sit very close but 1/2" lower.) https://www.dwr.com/living-side-end-tables/symbol-side-table/2518009.html?lang=en_US
