Color Concept
Complementary: colors used in this home are orange and blue. They are complementary because they are 2 colors on the opposite ends of the color wheel paired together. They are also more bold and vibrant than other color schemes in general. I like the boldness of these colors and like orange. I feel like it’s not a good choice for the stairs because it feels too closed in for me.
Split complementary: The colors used in this living room are yellow green, violet and red. Split complementary schemes use 1 base color and 2 secondary colors. This gives 1 warm and 2 cool colors or vise versa depending on the base color you choose. 2 colors are place symmetrically around it on the color wheel. This room gives me the feeling of going back in time and has a vintage feel. It makes me feel old.
Triadic: Colors used in this fun kids room include yellow, red and green. Triadic color schemes are colors that are equally apart in the color wheel. They make the points of a triangle One tends to be a dominant color while the other 2 are accents. This is great for a kids room and I love bold colors but am not a fan of these choices together.
Low key: This movie room uses deadest of brown with a little white in the accents. Low key is when the room uses dark colors and usually in values of black, brown, or blue. This room is perfect for a low key color scheme because it’s uses as a theatre to watch movies where you need a dark area. It sets the mood for watching movies.
Monochromatic : This room has colors of red mixed with white to make softer shades of pink. Monochromatic has one color that is mixed with either white or black and gives it lighter or darker shades and tints of the main color. This room feels soft and relaxing but not my choice of colors. It would be great for a young girl.
