The stairs are an interesting combination of rustic look/feel with modern design. Not sold on the idea of cantilvered stringerless support at all but the “light” and open design is interesting. Also: the window on the left is the type of window we are thinking about for our west exposure on the main floor study and living area. Big windows down to the floor are something we are interested in to bring in lots of light. Not the greatest maybe energy wise but worth looking into.
Like their blend of of ‘farmhouse’ and clean lines in their designs
Living room open concept
Window idea front - loft on opposite side
Window idea front living room
Windows front living room. But with simpler windows
Mezanine, stairs over kitchen
Floor materials - simple, durable; connection to outdoor
Wood stove + storage
Back dining area
Floor level windows in living room :) so nice and open
Mezanine. Yes another one. Still not a lot like our idea but similar feel and over same types of rooms
Mezanine: view from 2nd floor hallway/mezanine is sort of similar to what it’d be like in our concept sketches.

Mezanine. Overlooks living area with wood stove. Similar to our concepts
Decent balance of rustic elements with clean, contemporary finishing
2nd floor stairs and mezanine. Closest I’ve seen so far matching the stair well, landing and mezanine layout we foresee for our space. Similar positions relative to our kitchen area on main level too.
Cool balance of rustic and contemporary. Again the theme of complimentary colours. The mezanine over the kitchen with the kitchen and overlook both toward the living area. An iron or engineered wood beam to enable the open concept is something we foresee as well.
This is an example of what our mezanine idea might look like if we wanted to mash up too much wood of different styles. Similar configuration but a miss on the styling.
mezanine: another view of a mezanine type idea. In our layout we’re thinking the overlook would be to the living area not the dining room.
This is neat concept for ceiling and post/beam type styling for our main floor dining area looking into the living area. The room use would be reversed in our design. With the open ceiling over the living area not the dining area. This is getting almost over the top rustic which could be mitigated by less bare would and maybe just the beams and log joists being raw wood.
Similar ‘x’ style railing is used inside for the mezanine. The ratio of length to width would need to be tightened up for our layout but we like the overall styling. Cables are obviously necessary for code and are fine.
Mezanine... Neat concept for interior rail overlooking main floor living room. The x pattern has a cool farm/barn sort of feel. The deck railings could be matched to this style too. See related photo from the same house.
Living room. Example of a living area that is open to the second level ceiling with lots of natural light
Mezanine: Sort of similar to our idea of the second level hallway overlooking the main level living area
Sort of like our idea for the 2nd level hallway overlooking the main floor living room
Mezzanine - flat ceiling - simple windows. Beams seem too heavy though
Elements: concrete, wood, natural light, and love the incorporations of floor cushions!!
Mezzanine, beam, banister,rail - rustic
