Jessica Oberlander’s Block 2 Idea Book
The red lamp is an example of scale. It looks very similar to a small table lamp so we can assume that it was scaled up to fit the room to scale along with the other furniture in the room. The lamp is this example provides a feeling of fun and excitement as it is a larger “table lamp” than what you would expect to see in the norm.
The painted wall is an example of gradation. At the top of the wall, it is a very light shade of pink. It then gets darker to a red-pink, and then ends in a purple-maroon color. It is going from light to dark in color or dark to light. In this space, the wall gives the room a sense or feeling of relaxation and happiness.
The fireplace is an example of point of emphasis in this space. The gold chandelier and gold-accented furniture helps the fireplace stay as a focal point and become emphasized. Although the fireplace is the center of attention, the entire space is balanced and looks unified. The emphasis in this space creates a feeling of calmness and warmth.
The fireplace and doorway are examples of vertical line which create simplicity and an illusion of height.
