Wish List
I grabbed this one as it includes a few design elements not in my previous examples. The vertical elements on either side of the surround are pilasters (legs) which are then flanked by an an aditional pilaster being used as a return to the wall. The mantel is topped by a built in with crown molding. In your use-case I would assume the center cabinets would be a single panel (or just drywall) and the TV would be reinstalled. I like the shelving on either side of the TV location as well, but it may not "fit" with the room or the look you want. The primary stain is lighter than I think you are interested in in this example, but the stain can be changed.
This is a nice example of recovered material being repurposed. The mantle piece is a rough hewn beam that was used in post and beam construction. The material appears to be pine or fir. The two rectanngular holes are mortises that receive the tenons (ends of other structural lumber that have been cut down to a smaller size to fit the mortise exactly) of a cross member. Those mortises may be intended for angled bracing, but appear to be cut perpendiciular to the beam. Overall the beam itself appears to have been shortened at both ends to fit the space. The only hitch here is that recovered wood like this is very expensive in most cases.
Another idea of a simple concept of a fireplace and TV mounted. Like the lights in the cabinets on both sides.
