It really is a gorgeous backsplash, isn't it. It's made up of 2"x4" polished Carrara marble subway tiles. Conveniently, the tiles came in roughly 12" x 12" mesh tile sheets, with the pieces mounted in a brick pattern.

Drew stained the new flooring in the kitchen to match existing floors throughout the house. Marble countertops offer lively veining, while the marble backsplash conveys a subtle basket-weave pattern. Drew had the outlets installed on the bottom of the upper cabinets so that nothing would impede the clean lines of the backsplash.

Color theory
How Many Colors Can You Use in a Palette? While there’s no magic number or formula for creating the ideal color palette, Briggs says three to five colors will produce a good result. “But that’s not to say you don’t use different tones of the same color as well,” she says. “The more tones you have of the same color, the more interesting the whole color scheme becomes.”
Live-edge wood can also work in traditional kitchens. This kitchen uses a live-edge bar to provide a warm, organic contrast with the clean white cabinetry.

Wood or White?
Modern, elegant and simple. Gold with black and white is a classic look that can go modern too.Make a statement with a new gold chandelier
As a calming hue, purple is an obvious choice in a bedroom as well. I like using an intense hue for a headboard wall, as in this bedroom, while keeping the remaining walls light and neutral.
It makes walls gleam. Why use gold — or any metallic — on a wall? It reflects and catches the light, which makes it perfect for a dim space. It can even make a small room feel larger. You needn’t commit to putting gold on an entire wall. Finding a painting flecked with gold, or simply framing a length of gold wallpaper or wrapping paper, can have a big effect.

The stone also continues in this guest room, which features the home’s original roofline and restored floors. The bed is a pair of antique French twin beds pushed together.
The kitchen serves as Brock’s design laboratory, where she tests ideas for custom elements before making them available to clients. One of her tricks is placing the oil and vinegar bottles next to the range in a speed rail, a built-in sunken bin more often utilized by bartenders to hold well liquors. It took her months to find the perfect cabinet hardware, so they lived with blue tape substituting for handles until she found these special French brass ring pulls. “They are so beautiful — they were worth the wait,” she says. “You see this kitchen from all around the first floor, so the these details matter.”Brock’s idea for the stone wall was for it to look like it had been unearthed as part of the original home. It’s a natural stone veneer, and it extends all the way along this wall on the first floor and up on the second floor to keep the illusion going. A Lacanche range continues the traditional look. Concrete countertops add a contemporary contrast.Cabinet hardware: Waterworks
