maybe, on side and back of fireplace
muuto ambit wall lamp
I love Andrew Neyer's and this swing dome wall light rocks. I know. You don't think you like sconces. :) But we have to figure out how to light the island.
just ran across this stool from lumens that might work for you
just simple directable light on the back and side of the fireplace might do the trick too
on fireplace to light up island...?
hm. maybe a sconce or two on the back and side of the fireplace could replace the pendant over the island. I know you are pendant-averse. :)
a trio of beat lights would do the trick over the island - though I'm not sure you were digging that idea

You mentioned on one of the houzz photos that you didn't like the lights going down the stairs. I have seen that kind of thing installed and it's really pretty great. Just circling back to this here to make sure I understood and that you're sure it's not something you'd like to consider (it's very cuttable for cost certainly, but super nice to have if you can).
The Chip by Blu Dot.
maple and black. these are the alfi by emeco.
we need some black and maple(ish) counter stools. These are Gus Modern. Click through - they have a great little leather handle on the back.
black windows with drywall return / no trim
another example of drywall returns / no trim
black windows with drywall return / no trim. This is what I envisioned for you. (Actually what we drew is similarly divided to this too.) Exterior color should match your current exterior window color - or you should plan to upgrade all your windows to match over time if you change.
a Brizo Litze faucet here in a recent SYH installation. Not cheap: over $500. We need to think about faucet, and also, your sink: divided? single basin? I did not add a prep sink in your island, but we certainly could add one there. You can/should go and touch and feel and see sinks and faucets at Lee Supply and/or Win Supply in Bloomington. We can arrange that and go with you to streamline - often I send Keri on that outing with clients. :)
Grohe Minta. again, not inexpensive, at over $500
Delta Arctic Trinsic - more affordable at $350 or so.
Let's talk pulls. Integrated pulls are all the rage right now, and we love them. They are somewhat costlier than standard pulls, but are an impactful detail and would certainly go with your overall vibe. Thoughts?
this is what your cabinets will look like - painted face, maple stained inside - if you go with our standard cabinet maker. this notching out for the pulls is pretty great. It's more expensive, but it's what I'd do.
recent SYH projet with notched integrated pulls on door/drawer faces
This is that same recent SYH project with integrated pulls. Also, open this picture up to see pantry on the left. It has pull out drawers inside the eye level doors, with drawers below.
finger pulls - another option
black finger pulls here
finger pulls (for the most part) shown here
wood pulls are also an option
if the countertop goes right to that window (functioning as the sill), we can do plugs like this in the countertop (also in the island)
SY: this photo is oddly blurry and obv the wrong color, but these shades are top-down bottom-up honeycomb shades. they are very lo profile, and interior mounted. I'd suggest something like this for you. What we need to figure out during budgeting is if we want them hardwired for easy one-button electronic control.
countertop window sill
to your question about a concealed hood, here is another example of that type of thing. Totally functional inside the shell. The shell can be whatever you want it to be.
some useful functionality
screen/stair intersection. Simple beauty. (Your stairs stay as they are with the rise that these don't have.) (open up this image to see it fully)
do you need wine storage? beverage fridges?
do you need recommendations for appliances? I am going to assume stainless, without paneling. Yes? (Paneling is costly! But makes the appliances disappear. I think other details are more worth spending your $$ on in this case.)
Let's talk about ovens and microwave. This is a Whirlpool Oven and Micro unit. You can get this, with another oven in your range. Or you could get this, with just a range unit on top of a cabinet, if you don't want or need two ovens. You could also get two ovens and put a microwave on a shelf somewhere or build it in elsewhere under the counter. I'll show some of those options and you let me know your thoughts?
standard inexpensive free standing microwave can also just sit on a shelf - down low as shown here, or in pantry.
built-in drawer microwave - with peekaboo integrated pulls, incidentally.
single oven in 36" range, with a built-in drawer microwave in the island
above ovens?
dishes and cups go in drawers (this is hard for some people to believe, but it's true). Nicer glasses and bowls, etc, can go on the shelf above the window. We could also arrange for some upper level glasswear storage in refrigerator wall if you want/need it.
SY: are your chairs red? I think we are keeping them, yes? I'm diving in on specifications for your project. I know we're not doing furniture for you, but in picking architectural elements I just want to get this right. https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/chairs/set-of-four-globus-chairs-designed-jesus-gasca-stua/id-f_1936602/
