Bedrooms need storage as much, if not more, than other rooms; however beds take up a lot of space. In small bedrooms, beds pretty much take up all the space! For designers, this lack of space is an opportunity to exercise ultimate resourcefulness, basically creating something, like storage, out of nothing (read: extra floor area). Here are some of the most stylish solutions to providing storage in space-starved bedrooms.

Features: Notice the customised bed frame, which is suspended from the ceiling on tracks.

This allows the bed to be moved over the cabinet to reveal the bathtub. By opening up the bath space with this clever design, shelves could then be built (in place of the dividing wall) for the owner’s library.

Features: In this custom-built set-up, cabinets flank the bed on either side of the headboard. Bedside lamps were built into niches within the cabinets, while bedside tables were cantilevered from the wall. A window desk with drawers was built over the bay window area.
