To close in the bottom - under the counter - we would need to steel space from the shower. The option I like is to have the washer/ dryer under the counter but not closed in. Then add the retractable doors above the counter because we won't have to go into the shower. Still have the retractable doors as shown here. Just above the counter.

This is a project we did with built in seating under the window. It is removable, not totally built in.
This island is way bigger than yours but I just wanted to show the idea of the butcher block overlapping the stone counter.
Corner cabinet but I would suggest some glass doors with light on the top section.
