Barrier Free Shower
"Miami" sliding shower system is a kit which includes 2 rails which may be trimmed to the appropriate length onsite and the wheels and stoppers which easily mount to the active glass panel and rails respectively. the rails are mounted to the wall and stationary panel with supplied stainless steel mounting hardware. This shower solution is the most user friendly and modifiable onsite! Bartels shower enclosures are custom manufactured to fit any configuration and size.
Industry norms require a slope of 1/4" per foot. That been said, you have about 1" difference in floor height for this project. Yes, we could have used a profile from Schluter-Systems specially made for these type of transitions, but the nature and the edge finish of the tile allowed for a more natural look. This threshold shower, which almost qualifies as a less-than-zero design, successfully combines two different flooring materials. The wood boards in the shower are spaced to provide drainage and prevent water from pooling. In a design like this, it's important to make the floorboards removable so the drain can be accessed easily.
This continuous run of floor tiles from the main bathroom area into the shower exemplifies the streamlined and contemporary feel a zero-threshold shower adds to a room. The shower incorporates a standard round drain in the middle of the space rather than a trenchlike drain at the door. If you’re emulating this design, just make sure the floor slopes toward the drain.
