Bunk beds help optimise vertical space, and though they are often used for siblings who share bedrooms, single kids love them too. These space-saving designs can feature built-in study tables, wardrobes, drawers or even shelves for toys and books. Here are some multipurpose bunk beds that serve as more than just sleeping units.
1. Instead of being stacked on top of each other, these bunk beds are arranged a bit differently. The unit features a drawer-like trundle bed beneath the lower bunk, cabinets with lift-up and double doors, and shelves, too. Even the ladder-steps have room to keep knick-knacks.

2. This one’s a clear winner for your child, with plenty of room to just play. Though presently there are only shelves here to stack toys, the design still provides ample space below for renovation later – one can add a wardrobe, bookshelf or even a study.
3. There’s room for everything, from the school bag to stationery, with an assortment of open and closed shelves under the bunk.
4. This modern bunk-bed design keeps it clean-lined, with shelves on one side. The ladder area steers clear of any storage and gives the kids easier access to get on or off the bed.
5. A shelf for books and toys at the foot of the bed is a clever hack to save space. The drawers beneath are an added bonus.
6. This bunkbed is just right for older children or young adults. It features a study table, bookshelves and plenty of built-in storage. A workstation and bed in one!
7. The steps in this bunk bed also double as drawers (and added storage), which is an ingenious use of an otherwise dead space. And as if this wasn’t enough, there is a trundle bed beneath the lower bunk and a shelf above the top one, too.

8. Ranged along the length of the wall, this bunk bed takes storage right up to the ceiling. The wardrobe has been ingeniously fitted within the line of the beds, so as to leave the rest of the room open.
9. A pink multi-functional bunk bed offers two wardrobes as separate storage. This minimises squabbles as each sibling gets a personal, dedicated space.
