“Throwing Stones”
While I do not want to replicate what we had, as it was unique as a rehab, I wanted to give you a sense of our style. The rattan furniture was Sam’s parents’ that I made all new cushions for by hand and the “built in” is essentially what we now know as an “IKEA hack.” (We didn’t know that was a “thing” at the time—just took 3 Buck’s unpainted bookcases and linked them all together to give a built in look. NOTE: Moldings around window were an add by Sam—they were awful and dated before we tied them all together with the molding!)
Sending you this pic because we are concerned about storage in the kitchen. Sam is a serious cook and we had a pretty big U-shaped kitchen in the original cabin with lots of cabinet storage space. See next picture. (We bought someone’s cabinets that were only 2 years old that enabled us to replicate our suburban home kitchen space. Beverage fridge / “bar area” is negotiable if it is cutting into cabinet storage space for kitchen equipment/supplies.
This photo reminded me to think about microwave placement. Given the counter space along the wall, where did you guys imagine a microwave going? I do not want it to go into the island. We have friends who have some version of that and we don’t like bending over to get something out of a microwave. What are your thoughts about a combo fan/microwave over the stove? My mom had that but I have no idea if they even do that any more.
Want this exact fireplace! Really love the look of the stone and the raised hearth. Like the log storage underneath. Have decided we will forego TV over fireplace so as not to lose impact of the floor to ceiling fireplace as a center feature. (Of course, we may change our mind depending on the budget if too expensive to go all the way up!!)
White is still appealing! Especially using the batten vertical run.
