Window treatments- blinds or curtains??
Comments (7)I've had pleated blinds, metal horizontal blinds, vertical blinds, and wood blinds. Even though there are pretty pictures of blinds, blinds are not my favorite, especially vertical blinds. Blinds are impersonal, not cozy imho, and pleated blinds are very difficult to clean. They attract dust and pet hair, I think, by static, and vacuuming does not get it all. Horizontal blinds, if cracked open for some light, leave a striped pattern on the window which I don't like, are a pain to dust, and are pretty much "all or nothing", and you can't leave blinds open at night if you value privacy. Vertical blinds remind me of corporate conference rooms. Sorry, I hope I'm not offending anyone. Curtains on the other hand, can be soft and flowy, let light in without compromising privacy. You can wash them or dry clean them. You don't have to open and close every single day to adjust for light/privacy conditions. Curtains are easy to change out, and you don't need a custom size if your windows are not standard sized. I haven't had the pleasure of roman shades yet, that's my next new thing to try. More than you probably wanted,mikneleh... LOL! Have fun with your decision....See MoreHow to dress up windows above my stairs
Comments (4)Hi. I think you should put four blinds up, hung inside the windows, with curtains in the middle and on each side -- when the blinds are up you'll get a full view of your pretty windows. It's a pity to hide them. I'd keep the blinds quite simple so that you can use any fabric you like for the curtains....See Morewant suggestion
Comments (3)My first suggestion would be to change the layout of the room at bit. this is my suggestion:i also think that you should paint the room in a uniform light colour (preferable white) and also paint the wardrobe in the same colour so it doesn't overpower the entrance and blend in with the room. my second most important suggestion is to increase storage. here are some ideas for that: simple plank shelves with filing boxes and folders with labels can be a cheap and efficient way of storage of study material. here are some links for such folders and boxes: https://www.amazon.in/Elan-Bookshelf-Executive-Certificates-Certificate/dp/B00HWRHKOS/ref=pd_sbs_79_11?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=BQE8PBQNYQYXHHDEBAVQ https://www.amazon.in/Corpac-Multipurpose-Durable-Plastic-Storage/dp/B01GBBHT1E/ref=pd_sbs_229_40?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=1CC92M79MCJDPWBD53H9 https://www.amazon.in/Aristo-Basket-Medium-Without-Multi/dp/B06WGR811H/ref=pd_sim_229_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JD75V1WW64930CV4NG69 Also the sunlight is the biggest asset of the room and yet the aluminium window is an eyesore. so i would suggest some nuetral shade curtains. and you can play with the colors of the room with the bedsheets. And agree with studio chippan's suggestion of a painting or a family portrait or frame certificates of the kids achievements. Comments (12)Hi Ankur, Since you have specifically mentioned low cost, will point out the major things that need to change. A big reason it all looks cluttered is because things don't match each other. That dice table and the sofa dont match each other nor the divan. Stick to a set of colours or theme. RnD has given you good suggestions already. If you are going to keep the sofa - the cover on throw pillows don't match the print on the sofa. Anoth option is to do upholstry and change the colour. How about pink ? Here is an example: If you want to stick to black its still fine, but when you add throw pillow, do ensure that not only do the colours match but the prints - they need to make sense too. The coffee table doesn't look that nice. If you could use tinted glass it would have been better. The wooden base of the divan is boring and doesn't match the other items. If not anything, atleast paint it. The dice ottoman doesn't match the present sofa nor divan. The show pieces - update them! Bring more interesting things. The pink table near the sofa- again doesn't match anything. change the sheets of the divan. Change the tablecloth on the table near the partition. These are some of the things. If you present choices we can try to help you choose but else its best to go for professional help.
