Does my Foyer look Plush ?
Comments (66)Vikrant, is the picture taken from the front of your Entry door? I love your style and pieces. Just a few suggestions if this is the view when you first step into the foyer, I am not an expert! Ganesh in the place of the mirror to greet you and your guests as Goddess Lakshmi is supposedly behind him, will create more prosperity to the household. A recessed focal light from the ceiling to highlight its beauty. Another silver empty frame placing behind Ganesh, similar to the mirror to frame the idol or a Rajasthani silver jali work piece that way the wall behind would not look empty either! The beautiful mirror can be placed where you have the Ganesh now, that way the positive energy coming into your house does not get bounced back or out......See MoreIdeas on what to do to this narrow walkway in my house
Comments (22)Hi pankaj. Some lovely ideas above. Is that a door at the end of the passage? It strikes me, especially if you want to make the passage all white, that you might be able to give that door a special treatment to bring some drama to the end of the passage. That draws the attention to the door and away from the passage itself. You could just paint it a vivid colour. I think we tend to let our interior doors remain very plain and boring, when there is no good reason for that to be a rule. The one below would need some sort of backing for privacy, I guess, but I think to put metalwork on a door is a great idea that you could adapt in various ways. (Be aware of the dusting, though! Outside the rain will wash things clean, but not inside.) Also have a look at http://www.lushome.com/11-door-decorating-ideas-create-modern-interior-doors/58940 for some creative paint ideas -- I can't get those pictures to copy. I like the first one on that site. It's simple and geometric, and could very easily be adapted without hurting the budget....See MoreNeed help on bedroom
Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Can't wait to see the "After" pics!...See MoreNeed some ideas
Comments (6)Hi Mridul, Greetings, The comments that you have made seems to be spot on. Converting the living into a dining is a great idea depending upon how the furniture is placed and how the rest of the space gets integrated with the entire plan. For e.g. Keeping the dining in the centre and the tv unit on the adjacent wall will make the entire space fully functional as well as spacious. Also the puja room which seems to be very conjusted and small can be a part of larger space as shown in the plan attached and can also go on to the adjacent wall if given a thought. The store existing can be a little large in that case and can accomodate fridge and other kitchen storage pretty well with a sliding door which will make the space feel minimal and unobtrusive in terms of circulation. Now the furniture shown in the centre of kitchen and dining table can be utilized as a serving counter as well as for kitchen counter. The plan seems to have a lot of potential in terms of designing and also, the overall ambience will depend a a lot upon the style and the proportioning of the furniture....See MoreUser
