Ceiling ideas to cover this beam

Hi all. This is a concrete beam which lies on my dressing room roof. This is at a very low height such that I can't provide a false ceiling for the entire dressing room to cover it. Do you have any ceiling idea just to do at the beam portion?

Comments (5)Hi Esha, One option is of course to highlight it, as rightly pointed out by Hyphen Designs. The other is to add more beams to the ceiling and turn it into a design element for your space. Attaching some pictures for your reference. depending on the look of the space - you could choose how rustic you want to go with the kind of wood you use. you could clad the existing beam in wood and add maybe 2-3 more to introduce a pattern through repitition. if you find solid wooden beams a little too heavy, you could let them be finished in POP and paint and add some wood only at the base - just to create that highlight. and if you're ok with the wood - you could also probably add more beams than just 2-3 and give the ceiling a distinct look - like in this picture depending on the furniture layout you could highlight the singular beam in your room by painting it another colour or better still - i would stick to wood and maybe hang some lights or a nice installation that would add character to the space. if you dont like the wood.. you could probably add split levels to the ceiling coming out of the beam and highlight them by introducing some indirect tray lighting that would accentuate the levels. hope this helps!...See MoreIdeas for false ceiling with demarcation

While designing the ceiling, one should keep in mind to make it elegant and appealing. The design should not be heavy or gaudy and should not dominate the entire room. A number of elements like paint, ply, veneer, wood, wallpaper, mdf jali etc can be used to decorate and detail out the false ceiling design. Providing level differences with cove lighting is a good idea in order to create an effect of mood lighting in the room, while giving the flexibility of choosing the level of illumination required. Comments (11)Thanks everyone, I'm planning to get my floor tiled up soon, and then later the whitewash. So before all that, I wanna do away with the construction part, if required to transform this hideous corner. I had the roller blinds in my mind to hide these iron windows, but I will also look at options for changing them windows entirely if budgets allow. I might have to use some false ceiling work as well. Posters, I don't think can find space here, but a lounger sofa-bed is a surething with some nice lights. Comments (7)It is definitely not a beam.. there is a bit of a gap between the triangular shaft and the ceiling (quite evident in the ‘beam’ in the background where you can see some cables entering through the crevice). Few Options,1] Leave it as is. Doesn't catch the eye so doesn't trouble either.
2] Have it paneled in ply and polished veneer. You can give grooves or moldings in the veneer to make it more intricate.
3] You can have it paneled using MDF jali patterns. They can be a grid of random jalis or a single jali. You can also have the jali cut in veneer and have it pasted on the ply paneled beam.
4] You can put beautiful teak wood brackets at both the ends of the beam. You can have them polished or leave them raw depending on your preference. You can also attach hooks to the brackets and hang some decorative items from them.

5 years agoyou can cover the beam and also use it to keep ur shoe racks or laundary baskets in the hideway and use the extraspace in any way you like. image attached will make it more clear

5 years agoDo u have a door coming under it? If not u can do a wooden raptor with small LED Lights in it which looks cosy and Morden ( like lights above TV in below photo or lights and wooden block near dining ) or install the latest fibre laser cut partition under it.
Or u may also drop a minimal straight light chandelier
