Either one would work in the kitchen. I think it is more of a personal choice. I prefer tile in the kitchen.

Hi, I have a montez leather sofa http://kasala.com/products/montez-leather-sofa It is the charcoal color - but sort of looks like a really rich dark grayish brown. And I have a matson coffee table found here: http://www.plummers.com/living/accenttables/matson-i-coffee-table/3626 These two look really nice on carpet floors, which is when I had purchased these. Now, I have a new place, and planning to put hardwood floors, and really confused about what would look good even with an area rug added. The coffee table has really rich wood like grains, and I'm not able to wrap my head around what would be a nice color. I tend to really like dark walnut shades with mild distress, and enough grain variations that damages are not visible. Is the condo a wood structure or is there a concrete subfloor? If you have concrete, you will need to either float the hardwood (make sure you look at floating engineered...not all are designed to float) or a glue down floor (again, make sure the hardwood has the ability to be glued in place...not all of them are designed that way). If the condo board has rules about acoustic underlay, then the cheapest install is a floating floor over a high-end underlay. Gluing down hardwood over acoustic underlay is VERY expensive (double the glue and double the labour and double the length of installation).

Hello April, It's an old wood floor and each slab of wood accepts the stains differently so getting exact match is very difficult. Sanding, staining and repolishing the existing flooring to match the new floor is a likely solution to your dilemma. Its a messy and time taking procedure though.
