I do like the design. Quite a lot. It's modern and sophisticated. I really like the subtle detail of the base top being inset to create a reveal right under the sunmica top. I assume the width and length of the sunmica top is exactly the same as the base, it seems that way from the drawing. I like that too, it makes the reveal more purposeful. The short sides are best left plain as i think you planned. You don't show the short side so I'll assume the base connects at the top and bottom, and the field open. I like the antique polished gold for the base. I like it in concept, I don't know the room it will go in. You're very on track, so I'm sure that is the right finish for your space. For the top carving, again I like the deep brown polish. I think it adds more to the piece by having another finish. I'm curious about the overall height. What is it? Also, the table is large. Not huge, but large. I don't think you need to make it smaller, I just want to bring this to your attention so you make sure it will fit in your space properly. Finally, the mirror. Are you using a plain mirror? Smoked glass mirror or a mirror with a slight antiquing would be great.

@corner Stone designs. sorry if I had given an impression it mud slinging. but objectively speaking the suggestion to go for a chimney just because someone asked for it instead of addressing the real issue us not what I intended to do. one has to understand all the negatives as well veggie going in for a decision . just like you have the right to suggest there is nothing wrong in pointing out the issues in the proposed solution. none of us are internet warriors but most of us are "sold" items that we will never need in our life by creating an illusion. I know that dinner call it business but I am not in such one and I have the luxury to call a spade a spade. Even now the person who asked for is not sure in what they want but they think that a chimney will solve the issue. engineering doesn't work that way. unless we know what the real issue us, which isn't clear if it is the smoke or the smell and the your of food cooked, the frequency, the 80/20 utility of the kitchen we are not even close to understanding the problem. my intent is to emphasize the importance of understanding the problem and then look for issue and not provide a ready made solution. we can all suggest something by seeing a picture that fire will come and catch the chef if it is located in the window but do you think that what you say is practical. you may construct this as much slinging be as a novice I have a genuine question. how many houses have such a fire accident. we don't even know if the stove is electric or gas. if it is electric then they just no question of fire. so I encourage you to objectively approach and not see this as a mud slinging thing as that's not the point.

Hi Nadia, Using different design styles for interiors has two consequences - 1] You may end up with a poor patchwork reminiscent of a interior design showroom. 2] You may end up with a perfect blend of eclecticism. Avoid giving each room a different look as this will not only break the continuity of the space but will be visually overwhelming. Instead try to blend. This way you will maintain a visual connectivity of different spaces and the entire home would look balanced and cohesive even on being eclectic. You may achieve this by using the following tips: 1] Use a colour palette that suits the theme. You may use neutrals all the way and splash a bit of colour in on a wall or two just to highlight. These walls may be the ones in your foyer or passage or balcony or simply behind the sofa or TV unit etc. Remember that the colour is being used as a highlighter so place it judiciously. 2] Each design style comes with a set structure and rules hence, use an interpretation of design styles and not the styles as they are. This will allow you to make decisions flexibly as there will be lesser restraint. 3] Have a clear control on the aesthetic. Minimize, dont overdo, else the space will look like a museum and not a home. 4] Make judicious use of furniture. Use colonial designs for all your loose furniture like chairs, end tables etc. Keep your beds and sofas clean and contemporary. Add eclectic cushions. 5] Use furnishings wisely - american pleat curtains in pastel hues, damask/textured wallpapers, natural fabrics like linen, silk etc for upholstery. Add a bit of greenery in the form of plants. 6] Use natural stones for flooring (rustic tiles would also do) with motif tiles to highlight spaces like the kitchen, bathroom wall or foyer floor. Dear Vinod, That's what happens when you give a project to a carpenter cause they view it as the single element and can't imagine where and how it is going on with the space around. "They literally don't care" except the money they save in that project. As the wardrobe is glossy and dark gray you have to make-over everything in that room to makle it look better. So better go for removing it which is more economical, and if your wardrobe is done with solid wood or timber just go for wood finish paints (veener/varnish/some other) or else go for duco paint or any other that can be applied on it. But BETTER consult a Designer or an Architect to those kind of works not carpenter or some vender. And lastly remove that funky looking overhead outcrop. Have a nice day
