Hi---I suggest finding a fun, colorful palette-for boys and girls, (I like orange and turquoise together). Select furnishings that have tone on tone color, patterns, and lots of texture. Keep bedding neutral and identical but add something such as a butterfly or doll on the bed for your daughter and an animal or monster on your son's bed. You can get the glass stencils frames at a good price as they gives different look. Or you can have a statement mirror for the designer look, I think that will be all instead of putting up some regular paintings.

it is a guest bedroom. as u can see we kept it very simple and minimal. its a customized bed with built in bed back panel along with floating side table . to highlight the bed head we kept the wall white because bed head is colorful. i chose the bed sheets and pillows matching with bed head.also upon bed there will be two large frames of the same color theme.
