Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Comments (5)Hi Shilpa, Scandinavian design is a beautiful and versatile design genre. A few things you need to keep in mind which is key to Scandinavian design is light and ventilation - so have large windows with no/ minimal grills. The warmth of the room comes from natural wood elements, hence if you do not have wooden flooring have some amount of distressed or old wood in the room in terms of side tables or wall hangings. Maintenance will be a key issue if you have all white walls and furniture , so remember to suit it more to the climatic conditions of where you are situated , so if in a city next to a busy dusty road, you might have to upkeep the room on a daily basis. Try to bring in some pop colour like coral or teal and of course invest in an original painting Hope this helps you Smitha...See MoreNeed help choosing bedroom wardrobe color
Comments (6)You must go English. The colour depends on the kind of finish that you want in the sense whether it is veneer or laminate. You get excellent laminate these days. Don’t introduce a dramatic shade, instead opt for something subtle and subdued. Infact if you have a great carpenter glass would be a great option. However it must be toughened and frosted white....See Morecolor combination for bedroom (something like in wooden touch)
Comments (1)Hi Zainaba, If you are looking for a wooden look in your bedroom, here are a few ideas you may like. Concept 1 - Wooden flooring with solid coloured laminate for wardrobe, bed and dressing table. Concept 2 - Rustic tile/marble flooring with veneered wardrobe, bed and dressing table. Concept 3 - Wooden flooring with veneered/upholstered bed and laminate/ duco paint finished wardrobe and dressing table. Tip: Choose wooden textured laminates wisely. Avoid choosing from catalog and visit a store that has laminates on display. That way you can get an idea of the entire sheet of laminate, its colour, grains, texture and effect. Follow the same for veneer selections. If you do not want to take risks go for reconstructed veneers with straight lines. You may choose similar laminates as well. Avoid laminates with bright colours, heavy textures or floral prints. They look extremely gaudy and wont go with the style you are going for. All the best!
