Thanks Pragati, it looked to me like some sort of high polished quartz stone and if this was the case there would be a way to hide these joints by filling them with an appropriate material and polish them thereafter. So I guess, the framing-idea with the LED-Strips which pollyannagal mentioned would be a good option. You could also tape some sort of accent-tape over the joints or even just LED-Strips to hide these ugly joints. Cheers Bertram

I suggest you follow the step-by-step guide for creating storage cabinets under the bathroom sink. Take proper measurements - Measure the available available space in height, width and height. Cut Plywood to size - With a circular saw and framing square, cut all the required pieces out. You can use a sliding compound saw as an alternative. Attach the base and sides - Start assembling the sink cabinets by placing the bottom piece of plywood sheet on a flat surface. Attach the back and top boards - Place the plywood sheet for the top part of the cabinet and attach wood screws to connect it to both the sides. Turn the back faces of the cabinet upwards. Keep the back piece over the structure and fix it into place with wood screws. Attach shelves - Place the cabinet in an upright position to install the shelves. Slide a shelf into the structure so it is flush against the back. Attach door - Keep both hinges of the door on the same side of the plywood sheet. Drill them using wood screws into place. Now keep the door over the cabinet structure, extend the hinges to one of the side panels and fix them to make them secure. Fix a hasp closure on the other side of the door, placing it in the center of the hinges.

Peeyush, It is extremely difficult to identify a good ply amongst 100 plus brands unless you are a professional and you have the liberty to cut sheets for comparison . As you mentioned, it is a fairly unregulated market and in your case it would be only some 20 manufacturers making these 100 odd local ones and stamping it differently for marketing reasons . Brands do promise a minimum level of assurance and hence the cost. However, to help you narrow down - start with your budget range and the ones that comes with ISI mark/ hologram alongwith genuine invoices . With invoices you get a minimum brand warranty. The warping condition of the top ply usually tells a lot about the built. Try to go to reputed vendors only as they tend to have better ones. From the top five selected ones see if you can get "real samples" of 6"x6". Compare the weight, the cross section built of these and test them for nail/ screw strength and then finally put them in water for 2 days to see their respective performances with respect water absorption. there is no 'effective' solution that costs less than 3k and still looks good. you can build a plywood boxing and paint it the same as the wall. Even that will cost around 3 k at least, especially when a carpenter comes to execute just this one job
