The advise that you get from houzz.com is from professionals like myself and also from people who aren't professional but who enjoy commenting. The site is not really set up for solving very complex designs such as a complete house. I enjoy taking a few moments out of my busy day helping out when I can, but there is no compensation involved and I can't spend much of my time here. Houzz can also be used to find a professional to hire in your part of the world. We have clients who have found us through houzz. I don't know if there is a pro near you, but hopefully you can find a local architect for you to help you design your house. Of course you can post any questions that you have and you never know what great answers you will get.

A rule of thumb is that the distance between the house and a eucalyptus should be 2/3 the height of the tree. So if the tree is maybe 45 feet, you'd want the house to be a little over 29 feet away. As well as any new root growth that could affect your house, cutting into a root system compromises the stability of the tree. Also, even if the existing roots are deep, driving over the area with heavy construction machinery could compact the soil enough to affect the health of the tree.
