You have very high walls so I would do a tall wainscot on the walls to create some warmth and decoration at the same time. Take everything off the walls and remove all the small little shelfs and decorations, leave only the big furniture. Then start over with the wall decor. Need some bold statements to create some balance and interest but not clutter. Add some larger shelves if you need shelves, something hefty and interesting. It's hard to see wall color and how it works with the upholstery. Do you need all that furniture in the space? I would thin it out. Remove one of the sofas and place the chairs across from the other one. Open up the space in front of the window. Add a sofa table behind a sofa along the wall and decorate it with a couple large vintage style lamps with some accent color (pull a color from the rug that you like) on each end and tablescape the middle of the table. Add a huge mirror above Bring that same accent color into the space with some bookshelf decor but not cluttery. I am not a fan of the drapes; something more neutral in a grommet panel style that can easily be opened. Hang them at the ceiling. They will look really nice because they create nice gentle folds if the fabric is a bit heavy for weight. I strongly second One Plan's idea about looking for another architect. If this one is not motivated, all the fame in the world is not going to help. An alternative approach to finding an architect is to find some good contractors who have built things you like. Ask them for architects' names. Make sure they work in your price range. In the meantime, you can find out from your local building department what the set back and height restrictions are. Are you required to build parking areas or garage space, what kind of airspace restrictions do you have for neighbors' views and sunlight, that kind of thing. Often this stuff is on city websites or handouts at the office.

Hope these help! an english look that peddles on the use of stone and iron. incase youre looking for something classic - this is an easy to maintain and good looking option. if you already have a semi covered stretch - you only need to remodel the interiors - i dont know what flooring you have but a stone tile would blend well. a very modern take on interiors - the wooden partition not only serves as a panel that highlights the sofa in front of it but also extends upwards to jut out into a ceiling that covers the space partially. straight lines mixed with subtle greys and blues with a touch of fresh green definitely make the contemporary vibe take center stage. rugs warm the space and give it a lived in look. incase youre looking for a rustic feel and charm - rustic terracotta tiles and wooden furniture highlighted by plants will give you a right combination. this could be covered by a pergola. incase you want to keep the option open - of having a covered as well as an uncovered space - you could maybe use a retractable awning above - like shown here. a mirror always adds glamour - not only will it reflect the daylight but will also make the place look larger. reflections of green always add a dose of freshness too! in case you have semi covered stretch - you could treat it in this manner. if you wish to make a semi covered area - you could construct a pergola and treat it in this manner from the inside. do post pictures of your place once you do it up!

Hi Ankur, I don't think hanging anything over the db is a good idea since there is no breathable space behind the door. the only available space would be equal to the size of the door stopper. Keeping this in mind the shelves would either be too narrow or the door would hit against the shelves perpetually. I would suggest go for a pvc shutter for the db and cover the wall and the db shutter with wallpaper keeping in mind that the shutter should be open able.
