What is The Best Material for Modular Kitchen In Kerala?

From My experience I suggest PVC Sheets , or WPC sheets are more suitable for kerala climate for Residence Interior.

PVC Sheets with point 7 density is minimum required, with both side High pressure Laminate is a good option . Most of the people painting on it. but it is more costlier than laminating on it . and painting scratches easily .

Salim,

We have been avoiding PVC sheets for their screw strength (even in higher densities). Are you not facing such challenges.

HPL on both sides would be a good idea.. Does it cost a lot.

Higher density sheets will hold the screws. HPL on PVC or WPC will cost lil more than putting on ply . you have to make scratches on sheets surface without getting its effect on after laminate pressed. and the glue also different.

there is many types of support to be used for counter top for long lasting work... as ... 1) brick wall which takes 2" , 4" or 6" thickness space which is not good for below space as we will waste space for storage under counter... this is used where heavy material is used on top of counter for cutting any food items... 2) marble support... which will take 35mm thk space double support... 3) furniture base if the kitchen working person is using the sink properly for washing purpose and the gaps between the sink and counter top has to be sealed properly for leakage free to avoid any damages for below storage, as i will not prefer this in other area... this can be used only in foreign countries...

Sir,Present market is full of choices. Basic load frame material is aluminium, then the modular trolleys, then comes the shutter material. You should select a better gauge aluminium pipe for the structure. For the modular trolleys, must go for stainless steel material as it is more durable. Then comes the front panels, for that go for waterproof plywood and good quality 1 mm thick laminate which is durable. Hardware like channels and hinges should be of hefele, hettich , or inox brand for durability. If you are going for the ready made ones, go for hafele modular kitchens as they are the best.

Rayan, Not sure who has given you this information that modular kitchen is not suitable for Kerala. IMHO, it is completely baseless but would like to understand their reasoning. Use a BWP ply for the kitchen. Granites, Quartz and Corian are some good options for countertop. Thanks, Nitin Cornerstone Designs, Bangalore.

There is nothing special about Kerala climatic conditions that require anything special (yes, I have several years experience with kitchen cabinets there). You can use BS 710 or 303 plywood with laminate on them with excellent results. Several interior firms also use HDF/MDF with laminate without much complaints from their clients.

@Gus Mangaly , We can use any materials , but the problem is its lasting . 303 will last 5 years or less for sure. 710 will lasts more than that . but Here in kerala we have to face Termite also .
