Bathroom must be in the north or north-west portion of your house. Do not build the bath area in the south direction or even in the south-east or south-west direction, as it is said to have a negative impact on the health of the people in the house.

Washroom and bathrooms are two different spaces. As per vastu, you can plan a bathroom in the north or East direction. If you want a powder room/ wash room, then as per vastu it should be between S and SW and in the west direction it should be in SW ans W.

Bathrooms are never proposed in angled direction i.e. NE, SE, SW, NW .

Ideally, combined bathroom and toilet should be in north-west direction. You can have it in South direction but keep following things in mind. 
* The toilet seat should be placed in such a way that the person sitting could face the North or the South direction.
*  The combined bathroom-toilet should not be adjacent to Pooja Room or kitchen or it should not be under the stairs.
