I would recommend a step pooja mandir. it is really elegant to look at and convenient for use with smaller photos on the lowest step to bigger onto the higher step. The height of the steps need to be such that you can comfortably sit and do the rituals. Pillers to the roof can be carved to add to the look. The roof of the mandir can have hooks to hang diyas that add to the beauty.
