Elongated bowls are easier to use and clean/maintain. But they take up more space and are comparatively expensive. If you have the budget for it and the space, i would suggest you go with elongated, as I feel they look better.
If you and most in your family are taller, go for a higher bowl. But the ideal way to use one is not to have your knees at 90 degrees. The angle between your calf and the back of your thighs (hamstring) should be acute for better gut health and easy to your pelvic floor.
