It's a great way to collect photos of images that you like for your house using the "Ideabook" system. If you haven't designed the house yet, you can share these photos with your architect or designer to give them ideas of what you like. If you are at the point of decorating you can put together an ideabook for each room in the house. You can even ask you family members for their input by having them do their own ideabook. If you have a specific question, you can post it in the "discussions" and you will get opinions and answers from all over the world. It's a great way to design your space.

When you use the term "Duplex", you mean that it is a two story house, correct ? In the USA, the term "Duplex" means two separate living units side by side......but in other parts of the world it means a two story residence. Please clarily that you are talking about a two story single familly house...... If so, the footprint that your house will have on the ground floor will be approximately 1000 square feet. Do you need to park a car on the site or is parking offsite? If the parking is offsite, then you have lots of room for a two story, 1800 plus square foot house. The design will be dependent on your personal criteria, and it would be helpful if you could hire a local architect to help you with the layout of the rooms. It should be relatively simple once all of the factors are considered.

Start from the scratch, Place the VASTU PURUSH in the North East corner of the plot. His face should face down. Next Start the construction from South to North. Master bedroom should be in South West direction. Senior's bedroom in North side of the west. Children bedroom in the The North West direction. Drawing room should be in the North direction of the plot. Kitchen in South East side. In the rooms the bed headboard direction is South - best, East- second, West -third. Wardrobes should open in the east or north directions. These are some basic guide lines to for the house planning.

Hi Tanu, Designing is a subjective thing so you need to elaborate your requirements and vision a bit more. Though South- west facing house isn't considered as good as per Vastu and also as per energy terms as most heat gain is from the same corner and therefore more attention required while planning and designing such house.
