For my under construction house, how can I plan the area outside the basement windows? The architect wants to make a 2 foot open trench running all along the side of the house with rain water traps at the base. He doesn't want to cover it, only have fixed windows in the basement for light. He feels covering it will lead to condensation. The contractor has suggested to close the trench with a glass top and not have fixed windows in the basement . He says mostly people get it covered. I personally also would like to cover it. But i am confused what to do.. Can anybody please advice and give me clarity on it? What would be the worst thing to do in the long run. At the moment construction is on, so won't be difficult to implement anything. Thanks
