Comments (76)HI RinaI do agree I love jewelbox rooms, but I consider them more cosy ... and with a grey marble floor it goes all Versace Italianate! I am trying to balance the colours by bringing in a pattern on the covers rather than plain. I feel this will bring colour without overpowering the room. In the pictures I showed above, the rooms are basically neutral but the colour is brought in via pattern - I think this might be the way to go...Ideally a green or blue on a subdued grey would be the best, but I dont know what the market is like for Sumit...Cushions can do a lot to tie in the other white/grey elements.Shelley - navy is a good suggestion, but as Sumits area is quite tall and thin, trying to keep the general area light Any more suggestions most welcome. These are just ideas after all and Sumit will choose what works for the room in the end ;-)...See MoreDesign Input for new 3 BHK flat India
Comments (21)For the living room, the focus should be the balcony area. So flipping the couch to face the wall and not the dining table will help. Kind of like this pic. Even if you already have the sectional that is in the diagram, you should be able to flip it. In fact a sectional would probably work better than the couch in this pic. I also really don't like the style of this pic, but it showed what I meant, For the girls' room: No matter which bedroom you choose, you should maximize floor space so that they have the biggest play space possible in their room (as they get older you can add desks for school work and such). To get this space, I would give them bunk beds. This configuration gives them an open feel and more storage, essential for girls. You posted two different kitchen designs. This makes it hard to give you advice. I agree with other posts that your sink should be away from the wall. This allows you to have stuff to the left of you (drying dishes in my house), while you wash vegetables on the right of the sink. You need the same space on both sides of the stove, also. At least 24 inches on both sides is good. 36 is better, though. The first design has a nice little countertop space that adds a place for your daughters a space to sit a watch/ talk to you while you're in the kitchen. When they added this to the first design, you lost cabinets on the other wall. This is bad, as the space is already storage limited. Try making the rounded countertop bump out into the living space more. If you play with the shape, you could make it work without losing the cabinets on the other side. It doesn't have to be rectangular or a perfect circle. You can see how this one isn't confined to the floor plan of the kitchen. I think this is what you would need to do to make it the most functional....See Morewant suggestion
Comments (3)My first suggestion would be to change the layout of the room at bit. this is my suggestion:i also think that you should paint the room in a uniform light colour (preferable white) and also paint the wardrobe in the same colour so it doesn't overpower the entrance and blend in with the room. my second most important suggestion is to increase storage. here are some ideas for that: simple plank shelves with filing boxes and folders with labels can be a cheap and efficient way of storage of study material. here are some links for such folders and boxes: https://www.amazon.in/Elan-Bookshelf-Executive-Certificates-Certificate/dp/B00HWRHKOS/ref=pd_sbs_79_11?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=BQE8PBQNYQYXHHDEBAVQ https://www.amazon.in/Corpac-Multipurpose-Durable-Plastic-Storage/dp/B01GBBHT1E/ref=pd_sbs_229_40?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=1CC92M79MCJDPWBD53H9 https://www.amazon.in/Aristo-Basket-Medium-Without-Multi/dp/B06WGR811H/ref=pd_sim_229_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JD75V1WW64930CV4NG69 Also the sunlight is the biggest asset of the room and yet the aluminium window is an eyesore. so i would suggest some nuetral shade curtains. and you can play with the colors of the room with the bedsheets. And agree with studio chippan's suggestion of a painting or a family portrait or frame certificates of the kids achievements. Best of Luck, Purva Saksena (Architect)...See Moresuggest me ideas ASAP
Comments (8)Zet Lee, It is a typical example of proportions going wrong. We often pick up an image and replicate it with personal tweaks but thanks to limited foresight of workers we end up landing elsewhere. Anyways, curtains ideally should have a very small role to decide the furniture finishes. Furniture is permanent upholstery changes every couple of years. IMHO, upholstery should compliment the furniture and not the other way round. If the laminates are already procured then can you accommodate any changes suggested? Let us know. There are a few issues visible. The bed does not have a central support and please also make sure you have a plan for electric board on the left side of the bed shouldn't land up on the back cushions. Thanks, Nitin Cornerstone Designs, Bangalore....See MoreAnisha Deb
