Kitchen Chimney on the window dilemma

I have positioned my Hob under the window and need to install the chimney on the window now. I understand that I need use a plywood panel on the window to install the wall mount chimney. However, I really don't want to do that since it would block out the natural light. I am exploring alternatives for the same . I was thinking of going with Island chimney instead of a conventional wall mount by building a box in shelf above the window, but not sure if it would work. I am looking for 90cm Chimney with >1100 cubic meter per hour. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The distance between chimney and hob needs to be 26"-30" : 65cm-80cm.
placing it above the window, suction power is reduced, placing it in middle of the window, will make the window ineffective.
Island chimneys are best suited to be positioned in middle of the room, the duct running through false ceiling. also they fall in the expensive category.
it is best that you move the hob position to side of the window, or totally to the other side and do chimney core cutting there.

TBH it is typical planning went wrong .

As a work around you can have a look at SUMMILUX style or similar chimneys. It may just save the day for you. Regular 90cm island chimney may not work.in the space here.

I am looking for Glass Hob, Vertical Glass Chimney and Built In Oven. I am getting mixed feedback across different forums so thought to reach here (impressed with some of the pointed comments so far). I am planning to choose between Bosch, Elica, Hafele and Faber. Can anyone please help ? I need to finalize it in next 3-4 days. I am purely going by the brand name (plus my previous experience with Bosch) so preferred the following 1). Bosch Glass Hob 2). Bosch Built In Oven (though it has aluminium burner but the one with brass burner 'Hafele/Elica' has the problem of making utensils black) 3). For chimney they do not offer 60cm Filter less chimney hence thinking to choose between Hafele or Elica. Please suggest if this is the right choice. Thanks in advance

Its always best to go for a ducted chimney as foul air is removed out of the kitchen. A ductless chimney has charcoal filters which need to be replaced periodically and it just recirculates the air. But if u have no choice to go for a ducted option, then u can go for ductless model. We have used Elica models, not in mumbai though . Didnt have any problem as such. Also check the service availability in your locality. Faber is also a good option. Also a baffle filter is much easier to clean than a mesh filter in case of ducted chimneys.

Hi, there are a lot of brands with different reviews. what are the brand's suggested by your kitchen vendor? we have recently used Carysil for one of our clients. it's the first time we've used that brand and it is a good one. Another one to check out is kaff, which is more economical.
