I think a comfortable distance between the island and the counter is around 42". It seems that you have only 30" between your cook top and the counter. I might be a little too tight. The wall between the entrance and the kitchen could be 4' long instead of 6', you would then be able to move the island a foot which would give you more room between the cook top and the island. Could you switch the location of the toilet and vanity in your dad's bathroom so your enter facing a vanity instead of a toilet which is a lot nicer.

For the living room, the focus should be the balcony area. So flipping the couch to face the wall and not the dining table will help. Kind of like this pic. Even if you already have the sectional that is in the diagram, you should be able to flip it. In fact a sectional would probably work better than the couch in this pic. I also really don't like the style of this pic, but it showed what I meant, For the girls' room: No matter which bedroom you choose, you should maximize floor space so that they have the biggest play space possible in their room (as they get older you can add desks for school work and such). To get this space, I would give them bunk beds. This configuration gives them an open feel and more storage, essential for girls. You posted two different kitchen designs. This makes it hard to give you advice. I agree with other posts that your sink should be away from the wall. This allows you to have stuff to the left of you (drying dishes in my house), while you wash vegetables on the right of the sink. You need the same space on both sides of the stove, also. At least 24 inches on both sides is good. 36 is better, though. The first design has a nice little countertop space that adds a place for your daughters a space to sit a watch/ talk to you while you're in the kitchen. When they added this to the first design, you lost cabinets on the other wall. This is bad, as the space is already storage limited. Try making the rounded countertop bump out into the living space more. If you play with the shape, you could make it work without losing the cabinets on the other side. It doesn't have to be rectangular or a perfect circle. You can see how this one isn't confined to the floor plan of the kitchen. I think this is what you would need to do to make it the most functional.

Hello, Could you please mail me the exact measurement layout of the living room, kitchen and dry balcony area. I would suggest you to swipe the dining area with the living area as it will give an open space at the entrace. This will require a little bit of civil work if you are okay with that. Design Idea : The dining area can be made with wall mounted ledge on one side and 3 chairs on the other side. A 3seater sofa can be placed on the common wall between the kitchen and exisiting dining area with tv unit on the opposite side, this will restrain the view of the kitchen when guests visits. Attaching the reference of the dining area which can also be used in the current layout

Hello Rahul, limiting to your query on granite - It is quite a beautiful, natural and hard material. For applications in kitchen, store and balcony they would do good. There are some points you should consider for granite application - - Granite usually occur in dark shades so consider the lighting in the area of application. - Ask the vendor for iron content in any natural stone for avoiding rust marks. - The process of application and polishing is cumbersome but thank god in India, craftsmen are easily available. - Do not go for a elaborate gloss polish to avoid skidding/slippery floors. - It is also advisable to re-polish/reseal them every 3-5 years.
