How to adjust a king size bed in a 11 ft by 13 ft bedroom...
Comments (4)Plan the bed on the T.V. wall. You can start from the window side. The sequence will be first the dressing mirror with 2' wide dressing unit then 6' wide bed next 2' wide night stand. By providing the dressing near the widow, you'll have the advantage of natural light. On the opposite wall make a drawer chest or the study beneath the window next is wardrobe. Plan the wardrobe in such a way that you can provide the T.V. unit centering the bed. This way you need not do any structural changes and it fulfills the requirements also. Never compromise with the wardrobe depth. You must provide 24" depth for a perfect wardrobe....See MoreNeed help with Master bedroom
Comments (7)Hello Anamika. I would still suggest to not change the existing plan for practicality reasons. The only change that I want to suggest is to have that unit (besides the bathroom door, is that a dresser or workstation?) to move it adjacent to the TV unit (towards the entry door). However, if you do not like the existing pattern and want to change it - you could move the wardrobes to the North wall and place the bed on the West wall as suggested earlier and to address your concern of the narrow look, do one of the below: We could do a better space planning by doing some offbeat designing. If you need a workstation, you could make use of the headboard to double up as a desk (sample pic below) - meaning your bed along with the headboard would be moved towards East by about 3 feet. If you are one who wishes to have a space for your books, you could use the West wall to have a mini library too. If you elevate the work desk and library space by a single step, it would stand out and will give a special look to your bedroom. Another option is to have two single seaters with a round center table in between. You could also have a bedroom bench which can store your knickknacks. Sample pic shown below. Comments (22)Hi Sahil, 2 lakhs for such a huge room is a bit tight, specially when we are talking about making the furniture. The sofas alone will be an expensive investment and so will the bed and the wardrobe. Since the window openings are pretty large, either floor length curtains or roman blinds would be required in substantial quantities. Here are a few tips that may help you in cutting down the cost quite a bit - 1] Buy furniture online from sites like Pepperfry, Urban Ladder etc. They have good quality stuff at a reasonable price. You can order the bed, side tables, sofas, pouffes, couches, chairs, study table etc. This way you will always know what you are paying for and also always have the budget in mind. 2] Invest in coloured walls instead of wallpapers. You can always add wallpaper subsequently say when you want to give your room an uplift. 3] Have the carpenter make your TV unit and wardrobes since these would have to be customized. Invest in good quality laminate (it saves the cost of polishing too). Go for solid colours or satin finish wooden textures. If you are not fond of laminates, you can go for recon veneers. These are pretty cheap i.e. around Rs. 60/ sqft. but require polishing. However, veneers look better than laminates any day. 4] Add a personal touch with photographs, paintings, posters and other items of your interest. Dedicate a wall to these to create interest. 5] Try using old loose furniture like tables and chairs which you can retouch to save money. 6] Keep adding new stuff as you go to complete the look. Never hurry, complete only those items that are a priority. Then when your budget permits you can keep adding to it. For eg. have the bed, curtains and cupboards in place first. You can then opt for the TV and the pouffes/couch. Sofas, study tables, side tables and chairs come later. This way you wont lose track of anything. All the best! Comments (14)Gauri, we have analysed the space and your requirement. One thing is for sure that you can use the wardrobe next to entrance door and if you have the option of placing the Bed at opposite wall from current wall, that would give you better space and also avoid an obstructing view very moment you enter. Next, Study Space towards balcony - Right Hand side ( towards the main entry) and also an additional storage cum display unit on the opposite wall of study. it should be combination of side table of the bed. In case if you need all this put in a plan and share it...share the directions so that I will see that It's adhered to VASTU as well ( mainly the bed headboard)...See Moresuperbolter
