Home Decorating Before & After Design Dilemma

Need your suggestions on flat renovation and interiors

I own a 2bhk flat of approx.1200 sqft. I haven't done any interiors except false ceiling. Now I want rennovate my 4 yrs old flat with the current issues like taps change , electricity boards change, bath room makeover , cup boards and also good interior decoration. I don't how to approach for this. contacting a pro will be a huge dent in my budget. Any suggestions on this will be more appreciated. Thank you.

Ramesh,

If you do not want to engage a designer then you can try doing it yourself.You must have a vision of what you want to achieve.

Chalk out your requirements , mark the floor with your requirements, identify a good contractor, check the quotes with your budget, you may have to replan somethings and then start the work thereon. It involves efforts and dedication from your side.

For any particular dilemma you can seek help from professionals here. They do not charge a fee for their expertise.

Hello Ramesh N, Consult a pro just for a good planning even though its an old flat. By doing a good plan layout, you will be clear with the implementation. This way you will save quite a big amount along with the clear concept.

It doesn't look like there are any bathing or showering facilities ?!? Just toilets and a basin ?! I think installing proper bathrooms would be #1 on my list ! If you have as much storage a s possible built in and around the apartment - this will give you the modern open feel you are looking for I think !

You have a great floor plan with furniture placement ideas which will help when you are purchasing your furniture and decor items. The next step is to use houzz.com to put together idea books of images that you like for each room. Then you should find a local interior designer who will take those images and work with you to help you shop for everything and to select colors, etc......... Make sure that you find someone who is highly recommended and who you are comfortable with. Also, call their references and make sure that their past clients loved working with them and that they worked well with their budgets as well ......

Proportions in this bedroom are out of place. The bed is quite large and bulky to look at, and it covers most of the floor area. If you are planning to change the bed, then you can replace this with a smaller bed, preferably a floating bed(with no heavy storage beneath). It will give a sense of larger floor area. Next, the sofa/couch can be replaced with a narrow wooden console/table against the front wall. The artwork which is now hanging above the headboard can be kept/hung above the wooden console. The console can also have other accessories to decorate it. Now, the ceiling is not visible in your photos but the walls can change the look of this space immensely. Dark tones will close the space in and the room can look like a small box. You can go with lighter shades/hues for all the walls and add a texture/wall paper on the headboard wall. If you keep the same furniture, then colours which you can choose from are:- Light/pastel shade of teal Mauve or lavender Very light shade of pista green. The headboard wall can have a deeper texture of the same colour and you can hang a round decorative mirror which will reflect more light in the room. Make sure to choose curtains and bedsheets that complement the wall colour. These are my suggestions. However, it’s always better to take more opinions. Hope it helps! Hi Ramesh,

Dont worry to hire a pro, it will not cost u more.... infact u can select the designer who will fit into ur budget, and u will land ur house into a decent and budget friendly...

if u dont mind, be open about the budget u have in your mind for these below mention requirement..

1) bathroom makeover...

2) Plumbing tap change.

3) electrical board change.

4) cupboards

5) decent decoration.

My Suggestion...

1) bathroom makeover... ( Send us pics of 4 walls, ceiling and flooring )

2) Plumbing tap change.. ( Pillar or Wall Mounted Tap for Sink ) photos

3) Electrical board change. ( I hope if the internal cables are not in good conditions then that also

will add in your budget cost, only if it is damaged ) photos

4) cupboards ( what happen to the cupboards ) please mention, and photos

5) decent decoration... this cost for good eye for a design... either u will get good suggestion or else u have to pay for the designer... any one...
