Hello, Your Drawing Room needs more colour other than the white of the wall and brown tones of the furniture. This addition of colour can be done by adding the some printed cushions on all the seating. Slip a huge traditional print area rug that will at-least have all the front legs of the furniture on it. Addition of some huge traditional paintings / Wall art / Murals, etc on wall matching the ethnic style of the room. Style your center table & side table with some curios like brass accessories, coffee table books, candles, succulents, etc. Increase the lighting of the room. Can highlight a wall with a wallpaper/ texture wall/ textured paint. Green is good for the eyes! Add some house plants wherever you can. Thank you Groveraxle for the virtual ! you are too good a designer that is why I cannot help troubling you ;) you have your biggest fan in me ever since your first advice:)) As for an in-house designer I am certainly going to call somebody soon . Just that I get such a lot of options and great advice from highly accomplished and talented Houzz designers ..I would be better prepared after these conversations ..please forgive me for pestering you guys like this:)

Nadia, You need to provide some more snaps showing the entire room, including the location of the beam, its height & clear height of the slab etc. One idea could be to extend the width of the beam by just about 25 mm with gypsum board on either sides, at the bottom level, with a right angular vertical of 25 mm as well & provide LED lighting strip for indirect lighting...

Hey, As seen in the image the false ceiling framing members are also visible at the corners, so here's a thing you can do: Remove the brown molding and finish up the depression in a complete edge box look (using gypsum sheets). Get rid of the brown and match the white paint. And so you can still hang your chandelier there with entire focus on it and not the niche. Best Regards, Team Cubspaces
