Not sure on how to get open kitchen with wall betwen drawing, kitchen
Comments (8)Hi Option 1 As suggested by Cornerstone above. This way the TV will be visible from dining too Option 2 Move TV to the corner of the entrance wall, next to the window, placed at 45 degree angle. The L shaped sofa can then go to the diagonally opposite corner. The wall can be a see through book shelf/crockery shelf. This is better as the visitors have some inviting empty space as soon as they walk in instead of a sofa. Option 3 TV in current position, but instead of the TV being mounted on wall, perhaps have an open shelf (like below)...See MoreExposed brickwark within the open kitchen, living and staircase areas.
Comments (5)Hi Puspa, Here are some ways in which you may convert an existing wall into a brick wall - 1] If you are alright with replacing the existing wall entirely, then terracotta bricks are your answer. A terracotta brick wall gives a rustic buy neat finish as compared to the conventional brick masonry. However, this would require major civil work. 2] Another way is to strip the existing wall of its plaster and expose the underlying masonry. You can protect this masonry with a lacquer coating (your painter will help you with that). However, this again required some amount of civil work. 3] If you want to work with the existing wall without breaking it, opt for cladding materials. You may go for brick like cladding materials like terracotta wall cladding. These come in a variety of colours and are easy to apply and maintain. They come for both interior and exterior applications. 4] Punning is another way of achieving the desired look on a wall. The painter or false ceiling guy can help you with this task. Basically he will pun the wall in pop and engrave grout lines so as to give it a brick wall look. 5] Lastly, you may go for brickwork looking wall paper or a 3d panel. While a wallpaper would look flat and unconvincing, a 3d panel would do the trick. You can either paint on the 3d panel or leave it as is. As far as procuring items locally is concerned, I am sure a local vendor or contractor will guide you through. Regards, RnD Atelier Nagpur...See MoreIs it ok to have Open Kitchen with Drawing Room
Comments (6)Thanks for your response and putting a stamp to what we thought. yeah thats the whole idea. We want to merge the utility with kitchen by removing the wall on the right of the utility door and also remove the door. We will keep the sink in the utility behind the wall on the left of the door. This will conceal the sink area from drawing room. Do you think its a good idea and will make the whole look of the house grandeur. We have also removed the wash basin from dining area and planning to remove the small extension wall between kitchen and wash basin in dining area. This will make the drawing room look bigger and more natural light coming into the kitchen from balcony side....See MoreHelp my entry door opens in the middle of the room!
Comments (11)Hi Neha, The floor plan is indeed a bit odd. I would suggest to have a living area on the left hand side of entry with TV unit on the left wall adjacent to entry. You can plan a Swing sofa on left of entry. In the niche near bedroom you can plan some decorative corner, some cabinets or cabinets with a memory corner with lots of family photographs. I would have suggested a Pooja corner but the wall is with the toilet on the other side so that wouldn't be suitable. On the right on entry plan dining area. On the wall shared with kitchen you can have a little window in the dinning. It would act as a good place for a little serving table. If you're into carpets then place a big carpet between entry and the balcony. And decorate the balcony beautifully so that on entering the home you will be greeted with a beautiful balcony view. You can also use some indoor plants on the inside of balcony door. If you need any more help you can contact me directly. Happy Decorating! Garima Arora...See More- 6 years ago
