tamaltree, There are a few types of wood that don't take paint well. Heavy oily woods, like teak are the kind I mean. Most other kinds of wood will, so long as it is dry, clean and has a slightly rough surface for the paint to adhere to. If you are not a professional or an advanced amateur, don't try for the lacquer. It is toxic and highly flammable. Is that the information you were after?

I just tried a SW stain ( they can match it in paint) called Cape Cod Red that had a definite orange undertone and a burnt orange appearance when painted on our door. I thought it might be my eyes because the color didn't really resemble the chip or this photo. Then I spilled most of a gallon in the back seat of my truck and my husband and I agreed: Nope, it's orange. It might be worth a try. It was a pretty color without falling into halloween territory. you shouldn't use any dark color nor too much of light color. According to me, ash gray color would compliment the room but again that depends upon your color selection of your clothes.

It gives you a ready made idea of what colours produce what effects and how they look in a live setting. 2] Fan decks available at local paint vendors. You can play safe by selecting a monochromatic theme and stick to a single page of the fan deck or if you want to combine two colours in a theme, move horizontally along the same shade number. This way your colours would be visually balanced. 3] Apps such as Jotun Colour Design, Colour with Asian Paints - Wall Paint & Design App and Dulux Visualizer IN are also very good as you can actually see a virtual image showing the effect of a chosen colour in space.
