False ceiling if the height permits

Height of ceiling is 10 ft
And we don't want to go for false ceiling

However it would cost high for us... Can we do this only for some part of ceiling at both extreme ends to make it look symmetrical instead of doing it for entire ceiling?
Is there any possibility of making an arch out of it?

Yes you need not have to cover the entire ceiling but it should be at the width of the door

and be made up to the extent that it cover the beam.

You can do arch but in that case you need to use the false ceiling and it make it a bit shorter in look. So i would recommend to go with the previous ones as it doesn't allow you to use the false ceilings

Instead of the above solutions, you should increase the size of the drawing room and change the second entry of the house on the kitchen side wall. This way your drawing room will be bigger and the beam problem will be solved.

Thnx, but unfortunately the door is already fixed and we don't have that option now.. :-(

What about making the hall and drawing room into one and getting rid of that wall and single door? Use a wooden panel partition right before the bedroom door?

But how does it hide the existing beam?

Once you do that, the beam will be more central. While painting the ceiling and beam, paint the walls (up to the beam drop height) the same colour as the ceiling . It won't appear odd and as a separate structure, then you can fix some recessed lights on the beam for effect.

You can also place the above recommended wooden panel frame over the double door and add recessed lights, it will look good.

So the orange lines before the bedroom door can be the place for the partition wooden wall, and on top of the double door you can have a wooden ply panel with lights

Hi, you can just add two rafters on each side parallel to the beam matching the beam level in the centre as seen in the picture and paint them white. it will give a look as the ceiling for the foyer is designed in that manner and then you can add some beautiful hanging lights on the side rafters.

you don't always need to hide the beam .....if treated well it can be part of space like vintage homes.....forcefully trying to cover it up also not work always...make it work by just fixing mirror on it so ur ceiling length doubles up or as suggested by someone earlier putting rafters is good idea.

If you are asking from the vastu point, you can either hide it with the false ceiling or as you said changing the door position if possible. Prior to all this check the door placement as per vastu.

A false ceiling would be the ideal way to go. It will be such a slim strip, and if you add recessed lighting to that strip, it can look really nice.
