Comments (50)A houzz contributor, not too long ago, had made a wine rack out of 4'x4' wooden pallets, that are used in the US to move a load of goods with a fork-lift truck. Perhaps they have them in your country. He cut them in half so they were only two feet deep and stacked them up to high counter height. The wood would be a nice contrast with your concrete, might add a little warmth to the space. cascio.offsite@gmail.com...See MoreWall Beam in centre of living room
Comments (2)why are you extending that living area taking up the balcony ?......i mean it looks quite well having a balcony as you can see the view of the outside and serves cross ventilation as well rather u can decorate your living but if u really want to extend that area u can add up false ceiling but with that i think u might end up having less height of the room allover or particularly from that portion of the extended area ...which might look abrupt to eyes . there is another way of using that beam ....you can use that area for putting ac so that it won't look odd. something like this and can use your area hanging that jhula like so in the picture and for once u should think once, extending that area i mean u can use low height sofas for minimizing the space and and your room will appear larger .somewhat like this ........i hope u understand my point ....See MoreCeiling-fans for low ceilings?
Comments (6)Cornerstone Design, Thanks for your response. The electrician and false ceiling folks I've engaged are very competent, and are going to take care of installing the ceiling fans (of any type or kind I buy). My only task is to find and procure appropriate fans. Regarding the loss of about 10" due to the false ceiling: I only did a simple rectangular tray drop design for lights (approx 4-6"); however, the original ceiling was not straight, and approx 2-3" extra went in straightening it at the tray edges. Since the ceiling seems (perceived) low, I do not want to make it look lower visually. I am looking for fans that will be as close as possible to the false-ceiling without effecting its sweep functionality or energy efficiency. Any suggestions on where I can get good ceiling fans in Bangalore (all brands and varieties under one roof)? I would also like to see/consider the options you've mentioned (special fan like flush fan or ceiling swing fans). Where can I see/procure these in Bangalore? Thanks!...See MoreBedroom size dilemma.
