Thats a lovely bed and some great ideas above, for me I would go French Country and paint side tables and chest of drawers a soft black and match the timber tops with the bed timber. And it's OK to remove some furniture so it's not crowded.

There's no real purpose for the bedposts the bed was my parents. My dad passed away a year ago and my mom is selling the house because it’s too big for her. I would like to have a welcoming room for her to stay in when she visits. I know the bed is big and bulky but it’s her’s. The dressers were actually mine as a child that’s why I’m trying to incorporate those in as well. I know it’s a lot of heavy pieces that’s why I needed help coordinating but lightening things up. Thanks to all who took the time to make great suggestion and post pictures.

I’d also replace the blind. If it is a large room, then curtains full length that span across behind bedside tables, wide enough so you can pull them open clear of window, wider the better.. If a small room then a textured fabric Roman to complement bed linen, if privacy is an issue then add some sheers or a sheers blind behind.

I also note a number of small rugs. Try one large rug as per photos above.

A stunning art deco light fitting will finish off this room. Keep it in the era of your bedside lamps and make sure it is on a dimmer for a soft ambient light.

So we have to keep the posts . we can make them more modern and luxurious but upholstering bed head , but in that case you have to position bed against a full wall.

I love that idea! But unfortunately it’s the only wall that works in the room.

We stripped a old side board that was French polished, then rubbed wax into the wood after stripping.
It came up lovely aged raw wood look, and smells nice too.
Wonder if your draws would come up the same, and add new knobs.
Little bit of work involved in the paint stripping , and stinky! , but the wax rubbed on with a rag, was so easy..
Better than paint I think..

I’m not familiar with that technique but the look sounds like it would be beautiful! Im going to have to do some research to see if I can find any pictures of it done on maple dressers. I also think I’d have to get some help from a wood worker friend of mine who is much better at stripping and sanding than my DH is.
