I think false ceiling, is not mandatory but, you can instead go for a fancy ceiling fan, or even Chandler.

Sofa needs to be in front way, (just in) place of dining table, try to alter the same. Depending on size of the sofa, you can decide which way to go for TV cabinet.

But now a days you get ceiling mounted lights which dont need the usual 4" ceiling. You just need 1" ceiling so that wires can be hidden. Some people dont do ceiling at all and like the look of expose wiring in conduits - if done neatly then it looks superb.
