Susan, I find that people often make their coffee tables too low and too small. Measure the height of your sofa cushion and pick a coffee table that is a similar height. Also, in the layout you posted above the room would look better with a larger coffee table. Even as long as your sofa, or close to it. hi docpam.. since you havent mentioned the size of the room or attached a plan.. I do not know how much space you have to play around with. I mean whether you want a bunk bed for the lack of space or you want to give the boys one more for the fun that comes with it. attaching some concepts that would fit into both situations. this is a rustic looking one where your younger one could have fun getting in through the window. the light on top could help serve as a dim night light. its look being mainly rustic, you could introduce fun through personalized cushions and whimsical patterns on curtains and bed spreads. this is a more compact option with plenty storage. The colours could be used to add some fun into the room. theme based - this one highlights the height of your space too.
