I would break it up into various rooms, approximately 10 feet by 15 feet each, though a longer one with a long narrow (2 feet?) water feature against the wall and seating and plants in the center part would work. Plants on the wall, making it vertically green. A path leading from room to room should jog, so you cannot see straight through. Change the theme of rooms, large fancy pottery, an outdoor dining area, sunbathing area if possible.

What kind of a look are you looking at for your house. A minimalist modern look or a contemporary ethnic look. First and foremost you need to do away with the current drapes and replace them with fabric blinds or light curtains so that there is some natural sunlight in the room. Paint the entire room white so that instantly brightens up the room. The long 27ft wall can be wall papered with a bricked look 3D wall paper on light grey or beige or just a textured wall in beige or grey. Also removing your sofa from there will open up the space. The current drawing area can be used as a foyer/entryway with just a bench and a shoe rack. Rest of the details I will share after making a rough plan with all furniture placement. Also what is your budget for renovation.

Thanks for clarifying Mentes. Before answering let me clarify that building materials should better be selected based on local advice, availability, cost, structural requirements. Your architect would be giving you an informed opinion based on that. Cement Bricks have more strength and are cheaper than the red bricks. They also help to complete the work faster because of bigger and uniform sizes. So, I would prefer to disagree with the reasoning given. Secondly, you are in Kerala and fyki, red bricks takes away precious farming soil layer away. We already had a bad flood. In the best interests of nature you may want to avoid doing more harm. Hi Rakhi , You can probably follow this : Furnishings : If you wish to retain the Sofa, you can highlight it with bright silk / cotton silk bright colored cushions and throws. Change the curtains to neutrals. Walls : You can also go neutral on the wall colors ( off whites , ivory , beige or light grey) This opens up your possibilities and choices with furnishings and other add - ons. If possible you can get the exposed brick wall done on of the walls ( the entrance console wall for example) and have lot of interesting frames on it ) Artwork / frames : You can add lots of art work frames ( on the sofa wall ) of various style and types ( like in the grey wall pic attached. ) You can even add sari frames like in the pics attached above. would specially advise to add artwork frames on the entrance wall to hide the MCP (electrical board) or even a nice mirror. Plants : Please add lot of greens , it really lights up the space like no other artificial prop can. You get lot of low maintenance indoor plants they brighten up the space. Please note : You should first choose whether you wish to go for a traditional look or a modern or even a blend of the the two and then choose artwork and furnishings accordingly.
