Hello Isuru, you need to understand the human ratio with the furniture, space required for free movement, basic requirements and functioning of a specific furniture in designing .
The design principles are for furniture design and for how to use the elements of design (line, form, shape, colour etc.)
For furniture design you can refer to Neufert's book on architecture. Page 16 and 17 have human body dimensions. For instance, based on the length of the shin we know that the basic seating height has to be 1'6".
To make a floorplan, its based more on the requirements of the client, the number of people living, the space available, the use of the space, where the natural light is coming from, etc. and logic to navigate these choices.
its a lot of practice and observation. But as we say here at CUBSpaces. Anyone can design!
