@Dar - We hired a builder and he gave us this blueprint according to our requirements. We started constructing with the foundation and then after foundation the real problem came into picture. Now i'm worried about the front elevation only. We have already decided to make the kitchen open n combine it with dining hall. As per your suggestions we can combine the stair hall which is in our hands. Let me tell you the most important thing, we are constructing each and every room according to "Vastu Shastra". So we are forced to place rooms according to that. We can't change the position of the rooms. I hope interior decoration will help us to flourish our home.

Hello AK, This section is intended to answer your queries/dilemmas that you may come across while building/designing your new home. I haven't seen many a people providing free designs here. Just an unsolicited advice - Hope you do not mind : We all make one dream home and we want that it to be customized to our specific needs. 'One size fits all' approach does not work for residential spaces in particular. It is therefore recommended to hire any qualified professional architect to study the site, your requirements and make suitable plans for you. Sit with them, ask as many questions, make your own suggestions, study the details, if need be - ask for a second opinion here and elsewhere but make it your own place. I agree it may seem like an avoidable fee at first but the mistakes/changes corrections made on a later date are often costlier. All the best. Thanks, Nitin

Vastu principleas were initially important for temple building. Over long peaceful and prosperous period, it was incorporated to home building. Traditionally- single floor and detached setup. Historically, there was no toilet, no bathrooms and stairs in homes and so no mention of it. All the principles told now are merely an attempt to incorporate those per initial house vastu principles. I am vastu literate and my homes follow those principles as much as possible+ whatever I could from feng sui. I think you should follow any principles(vastu/feng sui etc) if you could. If you could not, there is no reason to get dishearted, home is where the heart is. If you want to build vastu or feng sui compliant building, always engage a vastu consultant who may charge just pennies. Dont believe on so called self made experts. You really need someone who had studied and renowned expert. google it. Thanks

Going with professional has its own advantages. Afterall he is pro, so he has studied more and has more experience. However is this person from the kitchen shoppee, which is giving you quotation of kitchen installation? In such cases, I have experienced that they just make boxy kitchens where they add lotsa fittings, that increases your budget. Open shelves does not need such fittings, so such are omitted...Normal door wali cabinets are less and number of drawers increased. Going on own is not a bad idea, provided you need to study it well. Note down the requirements, classify work areas and so on... In this approach , you have to go bit slower and carefully. Allow some flexibility in design, so that in future , you can alter as per the need. Sometimes we come to know the problems after few months/ years and we cant change it later. Ultimately compare between [your time+ efforts+ study+ error chances] Vs Hiring professional and go ahead accordingly.
