Dear Carolyn, Thanks for your advice. Wood of 5mm thickness will be a good idea . It will help painting remain straight. I can slide it through a groove on wooden bars top and above. The wall I am describing is the one on left side as you enter. I love this painting as it depicts joy and celebration and you always get a smile when you look at it. Regards, Surendra

These are a tough find! I do know that they get a lot of furnishing items form Mitchell Gold http://www.mgbwhome.com/. I could not find the lighting on there, but, you may want to occasionally check their website. They are going to set up a Good Wife furnishing collections soon :) sorry I couldn't help!

There are lots of nice cordless lamps. What if you take the picture to a store that just sells lighting, and see if they have something similar in their catalogs? It would be expensive but maybe worth it if you love having them be the first thing you see when you come in the door.

The room looks dark since there is no window nearby. You can consider 2 Contemporary Pendant light on either sides of the sofa such that it falls low and avoid older fixtures. Painting the wall to a brighter color, changing the upholstery to match that and using laminate wood flooring, would also help.
