need desperate help for my living room
Comments (8)Empty the room. I like your carpet, that could be the starting point for colour choice. It's difficult to figure out the room but I think the rug should be pulled out to the centre of the room. Paint room a warm sand colour. I don't know if the TV can be moved, but you have to find a way to hide the wires. If the sofa can have its back to the doors it would take away the attention to the doors . I'll let you con cider this:-)...See MoreNeed advice for decor of our drawing room.
Comments (10)Hi Gaurav, Here are a few suggestions - 1] Put up a nice collection of photographs over the chest of drawers. Put up planters on either its side. 2] You may go for a wallpaper behind the leather sofa or else opt for a grey coloured wall. Grey would highlight your sofa and give it a background. Accentuate it with a mirror or a painting. 3] Cover the window AC with an american pleat curtain that you can draw apart when you need to use the AC and which otherwise covers the entire window. 4] What are those green cushions in the corner? If they are floor cushions, highlight them with cushions. 5] A major requirement of your living room is a set of coffee table and matching end tables. This would visually connect the furniture together and make your space more utilitarian. 6] Choose a colour them and stick to it. Opt for curtains, rugs/carpets, cushions and wallpaper in tune with it. Since you have a striking blue accent chair you may choose to repeat the colour sparingly over the entire room to achieve a cohesive look. 7] Go for curios, collectibles like vases, votive, lanterns, figurines etc. to add a personal touch. Here are some pictures for your reference - Notice the use of side and end tables, colour theme, paintings, mirror, decor items, paint shade and cushions used in the images above. I hope they inspire you. All the best! Regards, RnD Atelier Nagpur...See MoreSMALL BUDGET BIG MAKEOVER IDEAS
Comments (12)Hi Ankur, Since you have specifically mentioned low cost, will point out the major things that need to change. A big reason it all looks cluttered is because things don't match each other. That dice table and the sofa dont match each other nor the divan. Stick to a set of colours or theme. RnD has given you good suggestions already. If you are going to keep the sofa - the cover on throw pillows don't match the print on the sofa. Anoth option is to do upholstry and change the colour. How about pink ? Here is an example: If you want to stick to black its still fine, but when you add throw pillow, do ensure that not only do the colours match but the prints - they need to make sense too. The coffee table doesn't look that nice. If you could use tinted glass it would have been better. The wooden base of the divan is boring and doesn't match the other items. If not anything, atleast paint it. The dice ottoman doesn't match the present sofa nor divan. The show pieces - update them! Bring more interesting things. The pink table near the sofa- again doesn't match anything. change the sheets of the divan. Change the tablecloth on the table near the partition. These are some of the things. If you present choices we can try to help you choose but else its best to go for professional help. Hiring interior designers isn't just that they know to decorate well, they will be able ensure the space is planned for best productivity, the overall decor is pleasing to the family and also help adjust lighting requirements. Comments (9)The living room window itself does not appear to be designed to let much light through. Please show a photo of that window, also of what lies outside the window. In the meantime, I suggest that you replace the builder-installed window with one of your own choosing. Use toughened glass rather than this heavy grill. Minimise the frame, if possible, particularly if there will not be much air coming through. If there is the potential of air but not much view, then have a sliding or bifold window that maximises the opening. On the blank wall outside, if that's your view, put up a green wall, creeper, something to improve the outlook. For nighttime viewing, add mild uplights in a natural white shade, focused on the greenery. Or else, you may be able to put up a reflective surface on the facing wall, to bounce in more of whatever light there is. Such as a coloured glass mural if not a plain mirror. Once you have maximised your window, move on to the wall to the right of your living room photo. That is, the wall that your living room shares with the west bedroom. Use a very large mirror on that wall to expand your living room visually and to bounce more light around. To cut down on expense/effort you can make it out of several standard-size sheets rather than one giant sheet. However, if that wall is to be covered with storage, make sure the front surface of the cabinetry is fairly light-coloured and reflective. Last, if not yet satisfied, consult a lighting expert for this room. That would be useful. These are fairly expensive solutions, all in all, but they should help....See MoreAnkur Jain
